Using the Connections page
How a connection card works: its status, where each value comes from, saving with your password, and the addresses to paste into a provider’s dashboard.
What you will learn
- Read a card’s status
- Change and save a value safely
- Know why your password is asked
- Copy the addresses a provider needs
Step by step
- Open left menu Settings → Connections (app.smartsurvafrica.com/settings/connections, super operators only).
- Each card has a title, what it is for, small tags saying what uses it, and a status: Not set up, Test mode, Connected or Live, or Test failed.
- Each field says where its value comes from: Set here (saved on this page), From the server (set up by SmartSurv’s technical team) or Built-in default.
- Saved secret values are never shown again. You only see that one is set. To change one, press Replace and paste the new value.
- To go back to the value from the server, press Use the server’s value. To clear a value saved here, press Remove. Undo cancels an unsaved change.
- Rarely needed provider addresses sit under Advanced: provider addresses. Change them only if the provider gave you different ones.
- Press Save changes. In Confirm with your password, type Your password and confirm.
- Under Paste in the provider’s dashboard, copy the addresses the provider asks for (the copy buttons help). Where an address contains a placeholder for the callback secret, replace it with the secret you set.
Why the password is asked again
Connections hold the keys to SmartSurv’s outside accounts: the ones that send messages and pay money. Asking for your password again means nobody can change them from a screen you left open. Every change is recorded with who made it and which fields changed (never the values).
What you will see
- Changes take effect within a few seconds. Nothing needs restarting.
- A note about encryption before going live, if SmartSurv’s technical team still has a step to do: pass it on to them.
